The Gizmondo™ (what you may possibly hold in your hands?) was a seventh generation hand-held games console developed by Tiger Telementrics™ in 2004. It was released to the public amidst much fanfare in 2005 and died off quickly in 2006 amidst much controversy.

It is build on an ARM9 400MHz processor with an Nvidia GoForce™ 3D graphics chip. The unit has approximately 32M of on-board RAM and comes with 32meg build-in flash ram that is primarily used for system preferences, storing the built-in camera photographs and other user data. It has a slot for SD/MMC cards and can allegedly use cards up to 4GB in size. Games and software were also released on write protected cards.

The operating system is build upon a minimal embedded version of Microsoft Windows CE™ 4.2 which includes Windows Media Player&trade 9 and Internet Explorer™ 6. These are utilised through a stylish and "skinnable" menu system, however user created applications have allowed access to the underlying Windows CE OS which has opened the way up for "home-brew" applications and more functionality equalling that of most common Pocket PC devices.

Despite it's apparent demise, the Gizmondo has a vibrant and active fan support base via such sites as GizmondoForums.com.
